Victim Services of Peel is a not-for-profit, charitable organization founded
in 1985 through the collaborative efforts of Peel Regional Police, Region of
Peel Social Services, the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the
Social Planning Council of Peel.
Our mandate is to provide immediate crisis intervention to persons victimized
by crime or tragic circumstances in all communities in Brampton and Mississauga.
While the majority of our clients are victims of domestic abuse and other
kinds of family violence, our critical response services are also available to
persons victimized by sexual assault, homicide, suicide, sudden death,
traffic/fire fatalities, armed robberies, etc.
Most of our referrals come from the Peel Regional Police. Others originate
from community services and still others come to us on their own. We help with
immediate crisis intervention. We offer healing through counseling and
advocacy. We give hope through an array of services that empower people and
prevent re-victimization through education and support.
Since 1985, we have given hope to more than 100,000 individuals! Our programs
provide a caring, skilled and effective response for people who have experienced
crime and tragedy. Our funders
and events
provide us with the support we need to continue providing the care and attention
that allows victims to cope with what are often the most tragic circumstances of
their lives. But we can’t do it alone – we need your help. Donate your time by
volunteering
