The Hero's Journey is a psycho-educational,
diagnostic and therapeutic tool, designed for children ages 6-12 who have been
exposed to abuse. And because it’s designed as a game, children will want
to play it again and again. Beyond the fun though, this game provides children
with opportunities to learn about violence, share experiences and develop
healthy approaches to their conflicts.
Schools, social services and children/youth centres throughout the Region of
Peel have received a free copy of The Hero's Journey,
along with a training workshop on how to use the game within groups, classrooms
and in individual work with children. It’s fun, engaging and offers a window to
a child's experiences and feelings when he or she is affected by violence.
